PAY IT FORWARD

PIF is our way of giving back. Every month we feature nine pieces (across all of dA, not just lit) that could use some extra attention from the community. If you've been featured, congratulations. We found you. Why not take the opportunity to pay back that goodwill by dropping a comment or two on some of the other pieces? Alternatively, if you know of some poor artwork languishing in a commentless state, send us a note with your suggestions.

:bulletblue: Members are required to complete at least one PIF critique a month and note it to the group.

heavenand i'll burn down the garden of eden where it stands
and kick open the pearly gates
'cause i don't give a damn about heaven
(('cause i've already found it with you.))
:thumb354237618:  Splash of ColorAdd a splash of color     to the smile on your face,
This world of grey
                              is cloudy to blame.
Until you
       light the sky on fire
to burn in hues of blue,
From which the yellow nothing     yearns its way forward.
Add a splash of color     to the fingers on your hand,
The sodden earth
can’t hold out on us forever.
Dry the ground
       to pull forward
               the soft browns of breath,
Beneath lies the red backed mountains     hiding from time.

WEEKLY CHALLENGE

Due to popular demand, the weekly challenges have been brought back. Unlike the prompts, the weekly challenges are super informal. You're given a prompt a week. You respond to it in whatever you write (poetry, prose, script, etc.) and submit it to the challenge folder. It's expected that these responses will be completely rough drafts; the idea really is to get you playing with different ideas and concepts and seeing what comes out of that. They're generally short and set up as exercises.

That doesn't mean they'll always be easy.

Challenge #1
4 Mar - 10 Mar

the day Fred went to the carwash and never came back

- Write for 10 minutes on this scenario.

Challenge #2
11 Mar - 17 Mar

a classic fairy tale with a twist

- 1000 words max.
- Choose from Snow White, Hansel & Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood or Rapunzel.

Challenge #3
25 Mar - 30 Mar

a shy lorry driver (47); a conceited actress (18); a children's playground; someone is trapped

- Write a scene including these elements

Thank you for featuring my "Scent of Roses." It was the first written piece I submitted to DA and it's touching to see people still find their way to it and enjoy the read.
